Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer Degree
Students earning an Associate of Arts degree from a community college will have earned credit or demonstrated proficiency in the requirements listed for that college. The Oregon University System schools will accept this degree as meeting institutional lower division, general education requirements, but not necessarily school, department, or major requirements with regard to course or grade point average.
Currently, Lane Community College in Eugene, Portland Community College in Portland, and Chemeketa Community College in Salem offer an AAOT degree entirely by distance education.
Associate of Applied Science Degree This degree is awarded to those students who have completed the requirements of a specified, two-year professional-technical (non-transfer) program. Chemeketa Community College offers this program in the fire protection and hospitality & tourism management.
Associate of General Studies Degree This degree addresses the needs of students who are not seeking an Oregon Associate of Arts transfer degree or the specific program requirements of an Associate of Applied Science degree. The degree will allow a student to combine a broad core of basic courses with a program of study that may be tailored to specific academic or professional goals. Currently, Chemeketa Community College is the only college offering this program via distance education.
Hospitality & Tourism Management AAS The Hospitality and Tourism Management curriculum focuses on the management aspects of today's exciting hospitality industry: food and beverage; travel and tourism; lodging, recreation and leisure; meeting and convention management; and casino management. Upon graduation you may enter the hospitality industry working in such areas as travel and tourism organizations, hotel operations, restaurant management, convention and visitor associations, recreation resource management, and casinos.
Certificates
A certificate gives you specific professional-technical skills over a short period of time, usually within about a year. Two community college certificate programs can be completed via distance education. Portland Community College offers a Certificate in Management and Supervisory Development and Chemeketa Community College offers a Certificate in Business Software.
