Chemeketa Community College was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2022. The report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. It demonstrates that Chemeketa upholds the critical value of stewardship of public funds as a top priority.
"Chemeketa is very proud of this Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting and the excellent work of our business service department at the college," said Jessica Howard, President and CEO of Chemeketa. "It reflects Chemeketa's emphasis on high standards and commitment to transparency that the public has come to expect of our institution."
"Receiving the GFOA Certificate of Achievement for Excellence is the highest honor that Chemeketa Community College could receive as it relates to Financial Reporting," said Aaron Hunter, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Chemeketa." It shows Chemeketa's commitment to transparency and accountability and is a reflection of the outstanding work done everyday by the dedicated employees in the Business Services department. This is the 31st consecutive year that Chemeketa has received this award, which shows how long this standard of excellence has been in place at the College. This is an outstanding achievement that should be celebrated College-wide."
